WELCOME TO MY E-PORTFOLIO!
Hello! My name is Allyson Rae Dewar and I am in my 8th year of teaching. Currently, I mold minds in my Digital Applications class at Tomlinson Middle School, which is part of Westwood Community Schools, in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. Before arriving at Tomlinson, I taught 5th grade for 5 years at the Academy for Business and Technology Elementary School which is located on the East Dearborn and Detroit border. Prior to arriving at ABT Elementary, I instructed 6th and 8th grade Geography, ELA, Keyboarding, Career Pathways, and Study Skills at Summit Academy Middle School in Romulus, Michigan for 2 years.
I graduated from Trenton High School in 2000. There was absolutely no doubt in my mind about what I wanted to do with my life. In the fall of 2000, I began my coursework at Central Michigan University to become an elementary school teacher. During my time at CMU, I completed my midtier at Shepherd Elementary School (Shepherd, Michigan) in a 1st grade classroom and my student teaching at McKinley Elementary (Wyandotte, Michigan) in a 3rd/4th grade split classroom. I graduated from CMU in 2005 with a BS in Elementary Education. A teacher's duty is to continually learn and grow so that is why I began my MA in Educational Technology at Michigan State University in the Fall of 2009. I graduated on May 4, 2012.
This portfolio is a showcase of my journey through the MAET program at Michigan State University, my life as an educator, and my passion for lifelong learning.
